Old Timers Poll: Did you ever have a (multi)party phone line? - residential local phone service
They know what is a political line, or was it? There are obviously still some isolated places, but they have disappeared almost completely.
From Wikipedia:
"In telephone systems of the twentieth century, the line of a political line and multi-(-party or shared service line) is an arrangement in which two or more clients a direct connection to the local loop itself. Before the Second World War in the American lines the most important form of acquired residential local telephone service. similar UK users have benefited from the supply line of the party. "
I remember my aunt and some other people with cross-party, but lived in relatively rural areas, I remember vaguely a political line in our own home. And you?
Thank you.
